Run DMC were a hip-hop group formed by Joseph Simmons, Daryl McDaniel and Jason Mizell in Queens, New York in 1982. They had a new street vibe as they wore street clothes on stage and their voices were rougher than anything heard before. Their first single ‘It’s Like That’/’Suckers MC’s’ was released in 1983. The first ‘new school’ track became a Top 20 R&B hit. In 1986 they combined rock and rap together by covering Aerosmith’s ‘Walk This Way.’ This helped Run DMC have the first rap album to reach number one on the R&B charts.
