The Ramones started off as a trio in Queens, New York during 1974 with a new fresh and vibrant sound. They are regarded as the inventor of punk rock music. They stripped rock n’ roll down to its raw essentials - three chords, a catchy chorus and irresistibly inane lyrics. They sped up the temps so fast that songs would last between 14 seconds and 2 minutes. It sounded revolutionary. They released 21 studio and live albums between ’76 and ’96. Although they were not hugely successful, they led the way for other punk bands to follow.
